Using the Christmas Thank You Note Template

The template is free to download, the link is above. No macros, just a simple spreadsheet. It’s setup so that you can print it off and keep track of who gave you what. Then you can copy and paste the address into this list and log the date the letter is sent. For each entry, the globe at the top will calculate your percent complete.

Do your thank you notes, one by one. Start to finish. This is opposed to first writing the thank you notes, then addressing all of the envelopes, putting the stamps on, etc. You’ll feel like you’re making progress sooner doing them one by one. This will help keep you motivated and keep things moving forward.

You might also consider taking the number of thank you notes you want to send and divide by 7 days, or 5 days or 3 days. This will give you a specific number to write each day. This will keep you from getting burnt out and give you time to take care of other important tasks going on in your life.

Ways to Say Thank You

  • Hand-Written Note – The most common method of saying thank you, at least after you’ve received a gift, is to send a hand-written note. This is the most formal thank you method. It also shows care and effort and seems to be becoming less common these days, so that makes it more impactful.
  • E-Card – Gets the point across, but doesn’t convey as much effort. This is a great way to show that you are thankful, it’s quick, inexpensive and there are a lot of creative options available.
  • Phone Call – People seem to get into the habit of getting gifts for people they don’t talk to or see on a regular basis. So, a phone call is a great way to make a personal connection. This is also a great way to follow-up on a hand-written note or an electronic thank you. It just takes a few minutes to pick up the phone.
  • Write a Poem – Good with the written word? You can put together a simple Christmas Poem or Limerick. Here are a few Christmas Limericks to get you going.
  • DIY Thank You Project – This is not the type of thank you for those trying to save time. However, it’s a great way to show your personality and put a unique touch on your thank you. Here’s a list of 101 ideas.

At the end of the day, the way you choose to say thank you doesn’t matter nearly as much as just saying doing it!
