Emergency Fund Analysis
Description: Use this template to figure out how much you need in your emergency fund and how to maximize your returns once the emergency fund is established.
The first step in building an emergency fund is to know what your typical monthly expenses are and decide how many months you need put away for that unexpected emergency. This template includes a spending analysis that allows you to evaluate your expenses by major category, enter the amount of your fund and see how many months are covered (see picture to the left). Once you have a sizable emergency fund, you'll want to take the time to ensure that you maximize its returns without opening yourself up to unnecessary risk.
