Recently, I was reminded how few people seem to be familiar with the F4 function in Excel... every time I show someone this function, they love it - it's easy, fast, and versatile!  If you're not familiar with it, try it out and show a colleague - it is guaranteed to increase your Excel efficiency.

The F4 function is used for one of two tasks: 1) Cycle between absolute and relative references (in a formula) and 2) Repeat the last action.  The one people seem to like the most is the repeat functionality, and really this is where the time savings will come into play once you get used to using F4.

This spreadsheet was created by Michael Levin, with Genuine Trading (see their website at http://www.genuinetrading.com). This is a dynamic covered call option calculator that allows you to enter basic information and see which options might be best to sell against a long (owned) stock or ETF position.

You can read Mr. Levin's complete description and download his covered call spreadsheet here.  He was also nice enough to include a video (something we've considered doing for some of our spreadsheets...but who knows when we'll get to that point).

A few weeks ago we posted a historical volatility calculator for use in valuing options.  With that, we had been tinkering around with the idea of creating a complete Black-Scholes calculator that could be used in conjunction with the volatility calculator.  Last week, when one of our users (Michael Levin) uploaded a spreadsheet dealing with options, we decided this would be the perfect time to just go ahead and finish the Black-Scholes calculator and post it along with the spreadsheet submitted by Mr. Levin.

You can read about and download the Black-Scholes calculator here.  We'll be discussing the spreadsheet submitted by Mr. Levin in our next post.

Looking to improve the flow of your meetings?  We've recently posted a meeting agenda template designed to do just that – improve the effectiveness of a meeting.  There are hundreds, probably thousands of methods out there devoted to the right, most efficient way to conduct a meeting. We're not looking to recite these methods or develop our own innovative approach.  What we've done is take some of the methods that we think have a high degree of success in most meetings and developed a template to act as an aid when conducting a meeting.

We've posted 5 versions of open items listings and/or issues logs.  These spreadsheets have been created so you can download and go, there should be little start-up time.  With 5 to choose from, you can find the one that best suits your needs and hopefully only need to make slight modifications.

Check out the Open Items / Issues Logs Here

If you have an open items listing that you think would be beneficial, be sure to submit it, we'll review it and possibly post it.  Also, leave a comment if there's a feature you need, but we currently don't have as an option.

The SpreadsheetShoppe.com has been online for just over 1 month now, and we've decided to establish a blog to keep up with changes to the site, new spreadsheets, content and to provide an easy method for people to share thoughts, ideas and ask questions.
